Just outside Manali, on the road towards Solang Valley, Nehru Kund is a simple little stop that is easy to pass without noticing. The main attraction is its clear natural spring, but honestly, the mountain scenery around it is just as beautiful.
The spring is believed to be fed by water from the Bhrigu Lake area, filtering through the mountains before coming out here. It is also associated with Jawaharlal Nehru, after whom the place is named.

Why Visit Nehru Kund?
There isn’t a long sightseeing list here — and that’s the point.
- The clear natural spring is the main attraction.
- The surrounding mountains and Beas Valley make it a nice photography stop.
- It is conveniently located on the road towards Solang Valley and Atal Tunnel.
- It is a good place to take a short break away from busy Manali.
If you are driving towards Solang, stop for a few minutes rather than simply passing through.

Nehru Kund works well as part of a road trip towards upper Manali:
- Palchan – a quiet mountain village with beautiful valley views.
- Solang Valley – adventure activities and open mountain scenery.
- Kothi Village – dramatic views of the mountains and Beas gorge.
- Vashishth – temple, hot springs and cafés.
- Jogini Waterfall – a short hike near Vashishth.
- Gulaba – a scenic stop farther up the Rohtang road.
- Atal Tunnel & Sissu – worth adding if road and weather conditions allow.

Cafés & Food
You won’t find a huge café scene around Nehru Kund, but there are some nice places nearby.
Paradise – The White House Cafe is directly opposite the Nehru Kund Bridge, making it an easy place for coffee or food. The Highland Park is another nearby option, especially if you like a riverside setting.
For more variety, continue towards Old Manali. That’s where you’ll find plenty of cafés serving coffee, pizza, momos, thukpa and local snacks.

Where to Stay
If you prefer staying away from the busy centre, the Nehru Kund–Bahang–Shanag side is actually a nice option.
- The Highland Park – riverside setting close to Nehru Kund.
- Nehru Kund Heights by JitaInn – close to the spring with mountain views.
- Moustache Manali – a more budget-friendly stay.
- Aarnaa Cottages – a quieter option around Shanag.
Of course, staying in Manali and visiting Nehru Kund during a Solang trip is also very easy.
Best Chill Points
This place is better for slowing down than rushing around.
- Sit near the spring for a few minutes.
- Stop somewhere safe along the road for a Beas Valley view.
- Have coffee with the mountains outside.
- Take photographs around Palchan and Bahang.
- If you’re staying nearby, find a riverside spot in the evening.

Weather & Best Time to Visit
Nehru Kund follows the typical Manali mountain weather:
- March–June: Pleasant days and comfortable for sightseeing.
- July–August: Green and fresh, but expect rain and slippery conditions.
- September–November: Cool, clear and excellent for mountain views.
- December–February: Cold, with snow and icy conditions possible.
Even in summer, mornings and evenings can feel quite chilly, especially near the water.
For a comfortable road trip, April–June and September–November are good choices.
Crowd & Off-Season
The road towards Solang can become busy during May–June, weekends and school holidays. Nehru Kund itself is usually much quieter than the major attractions.
If you want a peaceful stop, go early in the morning or visit during September–November.
Early starts are also useful if you’re continuing towards Solang, Atal Tunnel or Sissu.
If You Have 2–4 Hours
Keep it simple:
Manali → Nehru Kund → coffee/tea → Palchan → enjoy the mountain views → return or continue towards Solang.
If you have more time, add Kothi or Solang Valley to the route.
