If you want to do a little walking in Manali without planning a full-day trek, Jogini Waterfall is a great choice. It sits above Vashishth village, and the walk takes you through forest, mountain paths and open valley views before reaching the waterfall.
It is not just about the waterfall. The trail itself is half the fun.

Why Visit Jogini Waterfall?
A few things make this walk worth doing:
- The trail passes through green forest and mountain scenery.
- You get beautiful views towards the Beas Valley and surrounding mountains.
- There are smaller streams and viewpoints along the way.
- The waterfall looks quite different with the seasons — especially after the rains and during winter.
The trail has some steeper and uneven sections, so proper shoes are a much better choice than slippers. Recent travellers also describe the hike as scenic but a little steep in places.
Places Nearby
Jogini is in a great location because several Manali attractions are close by:
- Vashishth Temple & Hot Springs – visit before or after the waterfall.
- Vashishth Village – explore the little lanes and mountain cafés.
- Beas River – a peaceful place to sit after your walk.
- Old Manali – continue here for cafés and an evening walk.
- Hidimba Temple – another beautiful forest-side attraction.
- Solang Valley – a good option if you want to add adventure activities to your day.

Cafés & Food
There aren’t many cafés right at the waterfall, so I normally suggest eating around Vashishth after the walk.
7 Sisters Cafe is a simple option for Indian and Chinese food, while Basho Restaurant is popular for a more relaxed meal. Cafe 1947 is another good choice if you want to sit beside the river on your way back.
And honestly, after the hike, even a hot chai and Maggi can taste perfect.

Where to Stay
If Jogini is part of your Manali plan, staying around Vashishth or Bahang keeps you close to the trail.
- The Husky’s Lodge and Cafe – on Jogini Waterfall Road in Bahang; the property is listed as about a 15-minute walk from Jogini Falls.
- Zostel Vashisht – a popular option for budget and solo travellers.
- Small guesthouses and homestays in Vashishth are good if you want a quieter mountain stay.
For more hotel choices, central Manali and Old Manali are also easy bases.
Best Chill Points
Don’t rush back immediately after reaching the waterfall.
- Sit on a rock and listen to the water.
- Stop at one of the open viewpoints along the trail.
- Have chai in Vashishth after the hike.
- Sit at a rooftop café overlooking the valley.
- If you’re staying nearby, come back in the evening for mountain views.

Weather & Best Time to Visit
The trail changes quite a bit through the year:
- March–June: Pleasant weather and comfortable for hiking.
- July–August: Lush green surroundings and stronger water flow, but the trail can become slippery after rain.
- September–November: Cool, clear and one of the nicest times for the hike.
- December–February: Very cold, with icy or snowy conditions possible.
Mornings are usually better for the hike, while late afternoons and evenings can get chilly.
Crowd & Off-Season
Jogini is no longer a completely hidden spot, and it can get busy during May–June and holiday periods.
If you want a quieter walk, go early in the morning or visit during September–November. Weekdays are generally more relaxed than weekends.
One thing I would avoid is starting the hike late in the day, especially in winter. Give yourself enough daylight to come back comfortably.
If You Have 2–4 Hours
A simple plan:
Vashishth Temple → start the Jogini trail → waterfall → slow walk back → chai/food in Vashishth → enjoy the valley view.
If you still have time, head towards Old Manali for coffee.

Jogini Waterfall is worth visiting not just for the water falling from the rocks, but for everything you see while walking there.
